Lem's latest: Bradley-Marquez Face Off, Tyson wants trash talk
Tim Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez will be featured in an episode of Face Off with Max Kellerman in advance of their pay-per-view fight for Bradley's WBO welterweight belt on Oct. 12.
HBO's Face Off With Max Kellerman: Bradley-Marquez will premiere on Sept. 3 in advance of the Oct. 12 matchup between WBO welterweight beltholder Tim Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez at The Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
In his last fight, Bradley (30-0, 12 knockouts) rose from a 12th-round knockdown to secure a unanimous decision over Ruslan Provodnikov in defense of the title he won by split-decision over Manny Pacquiao last June.
In Marquez (55-6-2, 40 KOs), Bradley faces a man who is coming off a sixth-round stoppage victory over Pacquiao in the Boxing Writers' Association's 2012 Fight of the Year. Marquez was 0-2-1 against Pacquiao coming into that bout.
TYSON ENCOURAGES TRASH TALK
Former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson wants fighters to put the "hurt" back into boxing.
A 2011 International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee who received similar honors from The Las Vegas-based Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame earlier this month, Tyson will make his promotional debut on Friday at a show entitled "Tyson Is Back."
The card will take place at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N.Y., in association with Acquinity Sports CEO Garry Jonas and Greg Cohen Promotions.
Speaking during a Wednesday press conference, Tyson tried to drum up some excitement for the show.
"I need some of these fighters to come up here and say that 'I want to kill him' or something. I want you to talk about his mother," said Tyson, 47, who retired with a record of 50-6 (44 KOs). "Come on, man, we've got to sell some tickets...I'm sorry, I'm just trying to build the fight up. I'm trying to build the fight up, guys, okay?"
Also on the card, which will be televised on this week's ESPN2 Friday Night Fights, undefeated featherweight puncher Alexei Collado takes on Hugo Partida, and welterweight Ed Paredes, who is 12-0-1 with nine knockouts in his past 13 fights, meets tough journeyman Noe Bolanos.
On the undercard, middleweight Antoine Douglas will meet Edgar Perez, and heavyweight Dorsett Barnwell will face Marlon Hayes.
