NSAC: Mayweather-Alvarez PPV fighters test negative
The fighters in the four pay-per-view-televised bouts on the Floyd Mayweather-Canelo Alvarez card tested negative for anabolic steroids, masking agents and marijuana, according to Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer.
The post-fight drug tests for victorious fighters Floyd Mayweather Jr., Danny Garcia, Pablo Cesar Cano and Carlos Molina, as well as their counterparts on Showtime's Sept. 14 broadcast, returned negative for anabolic steroids, masking agents and marijuana, according to Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer.
Mayweather dethroned RING and WBC junior middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez by unanimous decision in the main event. In the other fights, Garcia unanimously decisioned Lucas Matthysse in defense of his his RING, WBA and WBC junior welterweight titles, Cano earned a split-decision over 147-pound rival Ashley Theophane, and Molina did the same in dethroning Ishe Smith as IBF middleweight beltholder.
Kizer said that he still is awaiting the results for the remaining fighters on the nine-fight card.
