Unbeaten junior lightweight Eloy “The Prince” Perez learned Tuesday that his opponent for an April 15date in San Franciscowill be Daniel Jimenez, a fighter whose resume includes victories over Vicente Escobedoand Angel Chacon.
The 30-year-old Jimenez will bring a record of 20-3-1 (12 knockouts) to Longshoreman’s Hall for the Telefutura show against Perez, who is 20-0-2 (5 KOs) and currently ranked No. 2 by the WBO.
Jimenez has won three straight (two by KO) since dropping a 10-round unanimous decisionto former world champion Jesus Chavez in 2008. He also went 12 rounds with future WBO champ Roman “Rocky” Martinez before being TKO’d in 2007. His other loss came in his pro debut.
Perez will be making his second consecutive appearance at Longshoreman’s Hall, where he pitched an eight-round shutout Feb. 18 against Roger “Speedy” Gonzalez. Other significant conquests came against Dominic Salcido, Derrick Campos, David Rodela and Dannie Williams.
The San Francisco eventwill be co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotionsand Don Chargin.
