Cuban star Guillermo Rigondeaux remained unbeaten with a first-round technical knockoutover previously undefeated Willie Casey on Saturday in Dublin, Ireland.
The undoing of Casey (11-1, 7 KOs), a native of Limerick, Ireland, began with a body shot, followed by a left hand that sent him to the canvas for a flash knockdown. Rigondeaux (8-0, 6 KOs) put Casey on the deck a second time with a huge left, then rained down a flurry of blows to score a third knockdown and get the TKO.
The prize for Rigondeaux was the interim WBA super bantamweight belt. Casey was the European champion.
