Report: Jones hit with $3.5 million bill for upaid taxes

The Internal Revenue Service has billed future Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr. $3.5 million for unpaid taxesfrom 2003, 2004 and 2009, according to the Detroit News.

The newspaper reported that the former four-division world champion was hit with a lien of $625,085, filed in Santa Rosa County, Mich., on March 21 for unpaid taxes from 2009.  A separate lien was filed, for $2,946,650, on Feb. 11, 2008, for delinquent payments dating to earnings in 2003-04.

Jones, 42, currently is employed as a boxing analyst for HBO and is planning a return to the ring May 22in Moscow against cruiserweight Denis Lebedev.

The news of Jones' tax woes comes a week after Floyd Mayweather Jr. was hit with a $3.4 million tab by the IRS for unpaid taxes from 2009.
