Times’ Pugmire, RING among winners in BWAA writing contest

Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times was the big individual winner and THE RING – the magazine and RingTV.com – won three awards in the 10th annual Boxing Writers Association of America writing contest for 2010.

Pugmire was the only winner of two first-place “Barneys” in the news story and event coverage categories, tying with John Whisler of the San Antonio Express News in the latter category.

For THE RING, RingTV Co-Editor Michael Rosenthal received an honorable mention in event coverage, magazine Senior Writer William Dettloff received an honorable mention in the feature under-1,750-word category and contributor Norm Frauenheim received an honorable mention for investigative reporting.
