Undefeated lightweight prospect Carlos Molina is scheduled to face seasoned veteran Angel Chacon in the Telefutura-televised main event of a Solo Boxeo show on May 27 in Pico Rivera, Calif.
It will be first fight of 2011 for Molina (14-0, 7 knockouts), of Rosemead, Calif., who was sidelined by a hand injury early in the year. A nasty bout with the flu last month disrupted his training and dashed a scheduled spot on the April 23 Joseph Agbeko-Abner Mares undercard.
Molina's last fight was an eight-round decision over journeyman John Figueroa last November.
Chacon (30-9-2, 15 KOs), a former title challenger from Puerto Rico, has lost five of his last six bouts since coming back from a brief retirement in 2004. The 38-year-old veteran was knocked out in the second round of a 122-pound title fight against Erik Morales in 1999. Molina was 13 years old at the time of that fight.
Undefeated junior welterweight prospect Luis Ramos (18-0, 8 KOs), of Santa Ana, Calif., fights in the co-featured bout of the May 27 Solo Boxeo show against an opponent to be named.
