Haye says he’ll retire by end of October

Using fellow Brit Joe Calzaghe as his template, WBA heavyweight beltholder David Haye says he'll walk away from the sport by the end of October without regret.

"Joe want about things the way all boxers aspire to," Haye told Gareth A. Davies of the London Daily Telegraph. "He defeated every opponent put in his way and then retired with his zero intact.

"Joe is one of the few guys to have the talent and intelligence to achieve his goals and get out when the going was good," he added. "That's been an inspiration for my own plan in boxing — to beat the best and leave at the top."

Haye (25-1, 23 knockouts) currently is preparing for the biggest bout of his career, a July 2 title unification fight against RING heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KOs) on July 2 in Hamburg, Germany.
