Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, told BoxingScene.com Tuesday that he has opened talks with Golden Boy Promotions about the possibility of matching his unbeaten featherweight, Yuriorkis Gamboa, with former champion Daniel Ponce De Leon on Sept. 10 in Atlantic City, N.J.
"We've talked with Golden Boy and they're amenable to making the fight with Ponce De Leon," Arum told the Web site. "Now we're talking to HBO to make sure we have the necessary funds to do the fight."
Gamboa is 20-0, with 16 knockouts. Ponce De Leon is 41-3, with 34 KOs, a record that includes a controversial loss to Adrien Broner at super featherweight in his most-recent outing.
