WBA bantamweight titleholder Anselmo Moreno of Panama has signed an exclusive, multi-fight promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions, the company has announced.
Moreno (31-1-1, 11 knockouts) has successfully defended eight times the title he won in 2008 by outpointing Wladimir Sidorenko. His only loss was a four-round split decision against Ricardo Molina in 2002, the year he turned pro.
Moreno is coming off an eighth-round knockout of Lorenzo Parra on June 17 in Panama City.
"Anselmo Moreno is one of the most underrated boxers out there today, and we're going to make sure he gets the fights and the recognition he deserves in the coming years," said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy. "To remain a champion as long as he has is an amazing feat these days.
“Now we're going to get him into the mega-fights that will let him show his talent in front of fight fans around the world."
Said Moreno: "I'm honored to be part of the Golden Boy Promotions team, with so many great fighters and champions. I'm going to fight my heart out every time I'm in the ring and I'm going to give the fans the fights they want to see."
A date and opponent for Moreno’s debut with Golden Boy has yet to be announced.
