Pacquiao-Marquez press tour moves to Los Angeles on Wednesday

The Crystal Ballroom at The Beverly Hills Hotel will be the site of Wednesday’s third stop in the four-city press tour promoting the third bout between WBO welterweight titleholder Manny Pacquiao and WBO and WBA lightweight beltholder Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pacquiao-Marquez III will be televised on HBO Pay Per View on Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The 32-year-old Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38 knockouts) and the 38-year-old Marquez (53-5-1, 39 KOs) are at the Lighthouse in New York’s Chelsea Piers on Tuesday for the second stage of the jaunt, which began on Sept. 3 in Pacquiao’s Manila, Philippines.

The tour will cover three countries and an estimated 25,000 miles, ending on Sept. 8 in Marquez’s home of Mexico City.

Unlike Tuesday’s press conference, the one in Beverly Hills is not open to the public. In Mexico City, the final press conference will be open to the public, yet again.

Also on the tour are Pacquiao’s five-time Trainer of the Year, Freddie Roach, Marquez’s trainer Nacho Beristain, and promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank Inc.

In two meetings with Marquez, Pacquiao has battled to a draw and won a disputed split-decision, respectively, in May of 2004 and March of 2008. Pacquiao floored Marquez three times during their first meeting and once in their second.

A winner of belts over the course of eight divisions, Pacquiao will be looking for his 15th consecutive win and his ninth stoppage during that time in defense of his WBO welterweight title.

Marquez is rising in weight to challenge for the WBO belt owned by Pacquiao, and has won three straight fights, including consecutive knockouts in the ninth and first rounds against Michael Katsidis and Likar Ramos in November and July.
