LOS ANGELES — Junior welterweight prospect Antonio Orozco punished Fernando Rodriguez en route to a shutout six-round decision on the undercard of the Saul Alvarez-Alfonso Gomez fight at Staples Center on Saturday.
Orozco (12-0, 8 knockouts), of San Diego, Calif., won by unanimous scores of 60-54. Rodriguez (6-6, 3 KOs), of Dallas, Texas, was game but completely outclassed by the undefeated prospect.
Also on the undercard, featherweight prospect Mikayl Arreola scored a six-round unanimous decision over Juan Sandoval (5-7-1, 3 KOs). Arreola, of Guadalajara, Mexico, (18-0, 10 KOs) won by scores of 58-55, 58-55 and 57-56.
Junior middleweight prospect Hugo Centeno dropped gutsy Alfredo Rivera (1-9) in the first round of their entertaining four rounder en route to scoring a unanimous decision. Centeno (9-0, 6 KOs), of Oxnard, Calif., won by scores of 40-35, 39-36 and 39-36.
Los Angeles middleweight prospect Ray Rivera won his pro debut with a first-round TKO of Rudy Gonzalez, who was also in his first pro bout.
