Hopkins wax figure to be unveiled prior to Dawson fight

Ripley's Believe Or Not will honor RING and WBC light heavyweight titleholder Bernard Hopkins by unveiling a life-sized wax figure in his likeness during the week leading up to Hopkins' match-up against southpaw Chad Dawson on Oct. 15 at The Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The gesture reflects the 46-year-old Hopkins' (52-5-2, 32 KOs) achievement of becoming the oldest man to win a significant world title with his unanimous decision victory over Jean Pascal (26-2-1, 16 KOs) in May of this year.

The figurine of Hopkins will eventually be displayed in The Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium in Orlando, Fla.

Hopkins earned the middleweight crown on April 29, 1995, with a seventh-round knockout of Segundo Mercado in a rematch of their controversial draw four months earlier, and made a division record 20 title defenses before losing to Jermain Taylor by a split decision on July 16, 2005.
