Mayweather avoids jail for now, eyes Pacquiao, Alvarez, Guerrero bouts

“I’ve been a world champion in multiple weight classes, and I’ve gone oversees to fight and won world titles, and I’ve been undefeated in world championship fights. You know 75 percent of my championship fights were by knockout,” said Guerrero, who is purusing his sixth belt in a fourth different weight division.

“What else do you want? It’s all there. The more that I go up in weight, the better I get. It’s all there. Right there to make a huge fight and for me to be the megafight for Floyd. As far as Canelo, he’s still young, and I think that he needs a little more time to gain that championship experience. But I’ve been there and done that.”

Mayweather earned the WBC’s welterweight belt with a fourth-round knockout of Victor Ortiz in September. Whether or not it’s Pacquiao, Schaefer said Mayweather will fight in May at the MGM.

“The fact is that there are other big, big fights out there for Mayweather. He is the super star, he is the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world,” said Schaefer.

“Everybody ranks him as pound-for-pound No. 1 except THE RING, and I don’t know why. I think taht it’s a disgrace that THE RING has not put him as No. 1. You have to scratch your head over that one — why not? So he has a lot of big fights ahead of him.”
