“I don’t want to fight nobody but one person, Manny Pacquiao. That’s the only person that I want to fight,” said Mayweather. “Right now, my team might be looking for me to fight one of the other top guys out there, but I’m looking to fight one person.”
Mayweather has targeted May 5 at the MGM Grand for his return, but Pacquiao’s handlers have all but dismissed May 5 as an economically illogical date for Mayweather-Pacquiao, citing their camp’s desire to have built a 40,000-seat, temporary outdoor venue on the Las Vegas strip in late May or early-June to maximize revenue.
So as it stands, Pacquiao appears set to choose from among four candidates to fight in late May or June, and none of them are Mayweather, who, in turn, seems ready to name another opponent for his target date of May 5.
“May 5th, I’m looking to fight Manny Pacquiao,” said Mayweather. “Why is he duckin’ and dodgin me?”
