The IBF welterweight title bout between Philadelphia’s Mike Jones and Miami’s Randall Bailey could land on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Tim Bradley showdown on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
“We’ve agreed on the fight, and now, we’re looking for where to put it,” said Russell Peltz, Jones’ co-promoter with Top Rank Inc. “Both sides have agreed in principle, and the fight’s going to happen in June. The Pacquiao-Bradley card is a possibility.”
Jones (26-0, 19 knockouts) most recently overcame rugged Argentine slugger Sebastian Lujan by unanimous decision last month, ending Lujan’s 12-fight winning streak that had included six knockouts.
By defeating Lujan, the 28-year-old contender earned the No. 1 spot in the IBF’s ratings and a berth against IBF No. 2-rated Bailey (42-7, 36 KOs) for the belt that was vacated by Andre Berto.
