Ring Ratings Update: No movement

There was no movement in THE RING Ratings this week.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (No. 3 last week) turned in a spectacular performance Saturday in El Paso, Texas, stopping capable Andy Lee in the seventh round. However, a victory over an unrated fighter wasn’t enough for him to overtake Nos. 1 and 2 Felix Sturm and Daniel Geale in the middleweight ratings.

Tomasz Adamek (No. 3 last week) defeated talented but unrated – and apparently one-armed — Eddie Chambers by a unanimous decision Saturday in Newark, N.J. However, he didn’t accomplish enough to catch Nos. 1 and 2 Vitali Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin.

The case was the same for a number of other rated fighters.

RING RATINGS UPDATE

Middleweight: Martin Murray (No. 7 last week) outpointed unrated Karim Achour in a 10-round bout in Manchester, England, to retain his position.

Lightweight: Miguel Vazquez (No. 2 last week) shutout unrated veteran Daniel Attah in a 10-round bout on the Chavez-Lee undercard to stay put.

Bantamweight: Carlos Cuadras (No. 9 last week) stopped unrated Javier Franco in the fifth round Saturday in Mexico to maintain his spot.
