Tickets will go on sale Tuesday for a Nov. 10 WBC junior middleweight eliminator bout between unbeaten Vanes Martirosyan and former amateur world champion Erislandy Lara, as part of a double-header to include undefeated featherweight contender Mikey Garcia opposite Argentina’s Jonathan Victor Barros at the Wynn in Las Vegas.
The undercard will feature undefeated Jesse Magdaleno, of Las Vegas, and unbeaten Jesse Hart, of Philadelphia, in separate junior featherweight and super middleweight bouts. The six fighters have a combined record of 126-4-2 with 84 knockouts, a winning percentage of 95 with a knockout ratio of 67 percent.
“This card will be a treat for fight fans who will be able to watch great fight action in the elegant environment of the Wynn Resort,” said Top Rank CEO Bob Arum.
Below is the skinny on each of the six boxers:
Martirosyan also has a seventh-round TKO of over Saul Roman as well as a stoppage victory over Troy Lowry, the latter being Martirosyan’s sixth knockout win in his past nine fights.
A gold medalist in the 2005 world championships, the 2006 Central American Games and the 2007 Pan American Games Qualifier, Lara’s lone setback was by disputed majority decision to Paul Williams in July of 2011.
Miguel Anguel “Mikey” Garcia (29-0, 25 KOs): A resident of Oxnard, Calif., Garcia returns to a Las Vegas ring for the first time in four years, having won 13 of his past 14 bouts by knockout.
Garcia, 24, has scored seven consecutive knockout victories, including those over previously undefeated Matt Remillard, Rafael Guzman, Juan Carlos Martinez, Bernabe Concepcion and former title-holder Mauricio Pastrana.
Jonathan “Yoni” Barros (34-3-1, 18 KOs): A native of Argentina, Barros has gone the distance with Yuriorkis Gamboa, and knocked out Irving Berry in the seventh round for the WBA’s featherweight belt.
Barros defended his title twice, the last time with a unanimous decision over Celestino Caballero. Barros lost his rematch and was dethroned by Caballero, and is looking to rebound from a loss to IBF junior lightweight titleholder Juan Salgado in August.
Jesse Magdaleno (11-0, 8 KOs): The Las Vegas resident was an accomplished amateur fighter with a record of 120-16, having won gold medals at the 2009 U.S. National Championships and the 2009 National Golden Gloves Championships. A southpaw, Magdaleno will be after his fourth straight stoppage victory.
Jesse Hart (3-0, 3 KOs): The Philadelphia native is the son of Eugene “Cyclone” Hart, a highly-rated middleweight contender in the late 1960s and early ’70s who was named to the THE RING’s list of 100 greatest punchers of all time in 2003.
Hart, 22, was 85-11 as an amateur, including titles in the National Golden Gloves at 165 pounds in 2011, the USA National Tournament at 178 pounds and going undefeated at the double-elimination USA Olympic Trials box-offs.
