Quillin scores six knockdowns to outpoint N’Dam in slugfest

Peter Quillin scored six knockdowns en route to outpointing gallant Hassan N’Dam and winning the talented Frenchman’s WBO middleweight title on the undercard of the Danny Garcia-Erik Morales rematch in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Saturday.

Quillin (28-0, 20 knockdowns) scored two knockdowns in each round of four, six and 12 to secure a decision by unanimous scores of 115-107. Despite the knockdowns, it was a very hard fight, one which N’Dam (27-1, 17 KOs) outworked and outboxed Quillin in the rounds that he wasn’t dropped.

N’Dam showed a lot of heart by battling back every time he was floored or hurt during the fight, but at the end of the night, Quillin’s punching power was the difference in a hotly contested 160-pound fight.
