Robert Guerrero defeated Andre Berto by a unanimous decision in a brutal welterweight brawl Saturday at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif.
Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 knockouts) knocked Berto down once in both the first and second rounds and smothered him from beginning to end, making it difficult for Berto to get off clean shots.
Berto (28-2, 22 KOs) had impaired vision for much of the fight, his left eye closing early in the fight and the right closing later on. Still, he continued to throw and land hard punches. His uppercuts were particularly effective.
