Junior middleweight prospect Hugo Centeno Jr. remained unbeaten with a lopsided unanimous decision over KeAndrae Leatherwood in an ugly, awkward ShoBox: The New Generation main event at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif. on Friday.
Centeno (18-0, 9 knockouts) was the more focused boxer during the erratic 10-round bout that was marred by holding, grappling, takedowns and rabbit punches. The 22-year-old Oxnard, Calif., native won by scores of 100-89, 100-90 and 99-91.
Leatherwood (12-2-1, 8 KOs), a 24-year-old boxer-puncher from Alabama, started strong but quickly unraveled as the fight continued.
In the co-featured bout of the Showtime broadcast, undefeated Puerto Rican junior lightweight prospect Braulio Santos made quick work of Kevin Hoskins, dropping and stopping the Los Angeles resident 56 seconds into their scheduled eight rounder with a series of accurate left hooks.
The 23-year-old Miguel Cotto protege improved to 10-0 with nine KOs. Hoskins, a 22-year-old boxer-puncher who has never been dropped prior to Friday bout, fell to 7-2 (5) with his second stoppage loss in his last three bouts.
