Fury stops Cunningham in seventh round

Tyson Fury knocked out Steve Cunningham with a clubbing right hand 2:55 into Round 7 Saturday at Madison Square Garden.

Fury (21-0, 15 knockouts) went down from an overhand right in the second round of a competitive fight but seemed to wear down the much-smaller Cunningham, who was six inches shorter than the 6-foot-9 Fury and outweighed by 44 pounds.

Fury had Cunningham (25-6, 12 KOs) against the ropes late in final round. The Englishman landed two right uppercuts and then the knockout punch, which sent Cunningham crashing to the canvas. He was unable to get up.

Fury lost a point in the fifth round because of a head butt.

A full report will follow shortly.
