Warren setting up Cleverly for end-of-year Hopkins bout

Nathan Cleverly could face American ring legend Bernard Hopkins by the end of 2013 if promoter Frank Warren’s plans for the unbeaten World Boxing Organisation light heavyweight champion come to fruition.

The Welshman, now unbeaten in 26 contests, could be matched next against Beibut Shumenov, the WBA’s light heavyweight belt holder, unless he is forced into a secondary successive mandatory defence by the WBO, this time against former champion Juergen Braehmer.
