Arum: Donaire, Garcia back in November

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum is trying to work out a rematch between ex-beltholders Nonito Donaire and Vic Darchynian for November, the same month during which he’s looking to bring back RING featherweight champion Mikey Garcia.

“We’re looking at them being on separate cards,” said Arum on Friday. “We’re looking at them both for November.”

Donaire (31-2, 20 knockouts) was dethroned as RING junior featherweight champion and WBO beltholder in his last fight by Guillermo Rigondeaux, who also holds the WBA title.

Darchinyan (39-5-1, 28 KOs) has won two straight since losing consecutive unanimous decisions to Anselmo Moreno and Shinsuke Yamanaka, and is coming off a fourth-round stoppage win over Javier Gallo in May.

Darchynian was the unbeaten IBF flyweight titleholder in July of 2007 when Donaire scored a fifth-round knockout against him. Donaire-Darchinyan II would take place in the 122-pound division, according to Arum.

Meanwhile, Garcia (32-0, 27 KOs) told RingTV.com plans are in the works for him to rise into the junior lightweight ranks for a clash with WBO beltholder Roman “Rocky” Martinez (30-1-1, 20 KOs).

Garcia is coming off January’s eighth-round technical¬†decision over Orlando Salido, which was followed by last month’s fourth-round stoppage of former titleholder Juan Manuel Lopez.

Martinez was last in the ring for a split-decision victory over previously unbeaten Diego Magdaleno in April that followed a split-draw with Juan Carlos Burgos in January.
