Manny Pacquiao defeated Brandon Rios by a one-sided unanimous decision in a 12-round welterweight fight Saturday in Macau, China, the Filipino star’s first victory since 2011. He was coming off back-to-back losses to Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez.
Pacquiao (55-5-2, 39 knockouts) baffled Rios with his speed and movement, picking him apart with hard combinations and using his foot speed to avoid most of Rios’ shots. Rios never stopped trying but didn’t have the skills or natural gifts to compete against an opponent of Pacquiao’s caliber.
Rios (31-2-1, 23 KOs) has now lost back to back fights. The Los Angeles-area fighter was outpointed in his rematch with Mike Alvarado in March.
