Adonis Stevenson, Tony Bellew make weight at heated weigh-in

THE RING/WBC light heavyweight champ Adonis Stevenson weighed 174.4 pounds at today’s weigh-in for his WBC mandatory title defense on Saturday against Tony Bellew, who tipped the scales at the division limit of 175. The fighters engaged in an intense staredown that ended with a head-butt exchange and shoving.

Both Stevenson (22-1, 19 knockouts), a Haiti-born Quebec resident, and Bellew (20-1-1, 12 KOs), of Liverpool, England, had to be restrained by their team members.

The fight, which takes place at Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City, Quebec, will be broadcast live on HBO. The Boxing After Dark telecast starts at 10:15 p.m. (ET/PT) and will begin with the replay of Manny Pacquiao’s dominant win over Brandon Rios on Nov. 23 in Macau.

The live part of the HBO telecast starts off with undefeated WBO light heavyweight titleholder Sergey Kovalev making his first defense against talented former prospect Ismayl Sillakh. Both fighters made weight for their co-feature bout.

Kovalev, of Russia, weighed in at 174.6 pounds; Sillakh, of Ukraine, weighed 174.4 pounds.
