Former junior welterweight titleholder Kendall Holt will face once-beaten Javier Molina in a welterweight bout on Jan. 24 on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights from the the Little Creek Resort and Hotel in Shelton, Wash., Goossen Tutor Promotions announced on Friday.
Holt (28-6, 16 knockouts) is attempting to rebound from an eighth-round stoppage loss to IBF 140-pound titleholder Lamont Peterson in February.
“Molina hasn’t been where I’ve been,” said Holt, who is 32. “I intend to remind him this is the big leagues when he steps in the ring with me.”
Molina (14-1, 6 KOs), who is 23, was last in the ring for first-round knockout of Francisco Javier Parra in June.
“This is a great opportunity for me,” said Molina. “I believe that I’m up for the challenge.”
“We’re very excited to return to the Little Creek Casino Resort and work with their terrific team on this event. The main event is a major step-up for Javier Molina and, for Kendall Holt,” said Dan Goossen, President of Goossen Tutor Promotions.
“It’s a do-or-die bout. For Molina it’s an opportunity to take another step toward a world ranking and for Holt, it’s a chance to re-establish himself as a world-class fighter.”
