Ring Ratings Update: Quiet two-week stretch

Heavyweight: No. 8-rated Odlanier Solis (20-2-1, 13 knockouts) dropped a split-decision to veteran gatekeeper Tony Thompson. Solis will be dropped from the ratings. Thompson, who has been rated in THE RING’s top 10 before, will not enter due to his losses in big fights. Unbeaten American standout Bryant Jennings (18-0, 10 KOs) will enter at the No. 10 spot, while Deontay Wilder and Tomasz Adamek both move up one notch to Nos. 9 and 8.

Light heavyweight: No. 2-rated Sergey Kovalev (24-0-1, 22 KOs) retained his WBO title with a seventh-round stoppage of unrated Cedric Agnew. No change in the rankings.

Junior middleweight: No. 7-rated Vanes Martirosyan (34-1-1, 21 KOs) outpointed unrated Mario Lozano over 10 rounds. No change.

Bantamweight: No. 1-rated Anselmo Moreno (35-2-1, 12 KOs) won a wide points decision over unrated Javier Chacon. No. 5-rated Hugo Ruiz (34-2-1, 30 KOs) scored a first-round KO over unrated Ramon Maas. No changes in ranking for Moreno or Ruiz. Ryosuke Iwasa (17-1, 10 KOs), who has won nine in a row since suffering a 10th-round TKO to current No. 2-rated Shinsuke Yamanaka in 2011, replaces former WBO beltholder Paulus Ambunda, who was outpointed by Tomoki Kameda in his last bout, at No. 10.

Flyweight: No. 3-rated Brian Viloria (33-4, 19 KOs) returned from a year-long hiatus to outpoint unrated Juan Herrera. No. 5-rated Juan Carlos Reveco (33-1-0, 18 KOs) scored a second-round KO of unrated Manuel Vides. No change.

Strawweight: No. 2-rated Wanheng Menayothin (33-0, 10 KOs) won a six-round decision over unrated Heri Amol. Merlito Sabillo (23-1-1, 12 KOs) surprisingly lost his unbeaten record and the WBO title to Francisco Rodriguez, Jr. (14-2-0, 10 KOs). Sabillo was stopped in the 10th round. Jesus Silvestre (28-4-0, 20 KOs) will replace Sabillo at No. 6. Francisco Rodriguez, Jr. will enter the ratings at No. 7. Osvaldo Novoa (13-4-1, 8 KOs) will remain at No. 8. Sabillo will drop to No. 9. Ryuji Hara (16-0-0, 10 KOs) will drop to No. 10. Previous No. 10-rated Xiong Zhao Zhong (22-5-1, 12 KOs) will be dropped from the ratings.
