Lem’s latest: Ali, Ochoa, Browne will support Hopkins-Shumenov

Welterweight Sadam Ali and junior welterweight Zachary Ochoa, as well as 2012 Olympian light heavyweight Marcus Browne of Staten Island, N.Y., will grace the undercard of the April 19 main event between IBF 175-pound titleholder Bernard Hopkins and WBA counterpart Beibut Shumenov at the D.C. Armory in Washington D.C.

While the Hopkins-Shumenov television tripleheader will include a welterweight bout between IBF beltholder Shawn Porter and Paulie Malignaggi and WBO middleweight titlist Peter Quillin's defense against Lukas Konecny (starting at 9 p.m., ET/PT), Ali, Ochoa and Browne will be seen on Showtime Extreme beginning at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

A 25-year-old nicknamed "World Kid," Ali (18-0, 11 knockouts) was last in the ring for a sixth-round stoppage of Jesus Selig in December. Ali is being matched opposite Jeremy Bryan (17-3, 7 KOs), of Paterson, N.J., a 28-year-old who's won three of his last four fights.

A 21-year-old of Puerto Rican descent, Ochoa (6-0, 3 KOs) is taking on Hector Marengo (6-7-4, 4 KOs) of Puerto Rico. Meanwhile, Browne (9-0, 7 KOs), 23, will attempt to handle an opponent to be determined.

In non-televised bout, super middleweight D'Mitrius Ballard (4-0, 3 KOs) will face Quincy Miner (3-5); middleweight Dominic Wade (14-0, 10 KOs) will take on Marcus Upshaw (15-11-2, 7 KOs) and welterweight David Grayton (6-0, 5 KOs) and Chrisshawn Alexander (4-0, 3 KOs) will be matched against opponents to be determined in separate bouts.

Matchroom Sport has announced that British heavyweight Anthony Joshua (5-0, 5 KOs), a 2012 Olympic gold medalist, will face an opponent to be determined in support of the May 31 rematch between IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch and George Groves at Wembley Stadium in Wembley, London.

A crowd of some 60,000 is expected at Wembley Stadium for the bout between Groves (19-1, 15 KOs) and Froch (32-2, 23 KOs), who rose from a first-round knockdown to secure a disputed ninth-round stoppage over Groves in their initial bout last November.
