Lem’s latest: Alexander Povetkin stops Manuel Charr in Round 7

Heavyweight contender Alexander Povetkin stopped once-beaten Manuel Charr at the 1:09 mark of Round 7 on Friday in Moscow.

The 34-year-old Povetkin (27-1, 19 KOs) scored his first victory since falling by unanimous decision to RING, IBF, WBA and WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko last October, when he was floored once in Round 2 and three more times in Round 7.

It was the second knockout loss in the career of the 29-year-old Charr (26-2, 15 KOs), who had won five straight fights, four of them by stoppage, since suffering a technical knockout to then-WBC titleholder Vitali Klitschko in Moscow in September 2012. Prior to facing Povetkin, Charr had last been in action for a unanimous decision victory over Kevin Johnson on April 12.

GERARDO IBARRA REPLACES INJURED DOMINIQUE DOLTON AGAINST HUGO CENTENO

Oxnard, Calif.-based junior middleweight Hugo Centeno (20-0, 11 KOs) will face Gerardo "Tin Tin" Ibarra (14-0, 8 KOs) on June 6 after his originally scheduled opponent, Dominique Dolton (14-0, 8 KOs) was forced to withdraw with a hand injury from a bout to be televised on ShoBox: The New Generation from Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif., live on Showtime at 10 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast).

In his last fight on Dec. 13, Centeno scored a 10th-round stoppage of Angel Osuna at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Ibarra (14-0, 8 KOs) was last in action for a decision victory over William Johnson in February.

"To put it simply, I love fighting," said Ibarra. "Boxing is about opportunities and this is a great platform to showcase my talent on a national network, and I promise that after the fight everyone will know who 'TinTin' is."

In the ShoBox co-feature, New York City junior middleweight Eddie Gomez (16-0, 10 KOs) faces Francisco Santana (19-3-1, 7 KOs) of Santa Barbara, Calif.
