Robert Guerrero says he'd love to challenge 140-pound beltholder Amir Khan on July 23. ESPN.com's Dan Rafael recently tweeted that a showdown between junior welterweight beltholders Amir Khan and Zab Judah is close to being finalized for Khan's July 23 HBO date. In the event the deal doesn't go down, Robert Guerrero, the holder of two interim lightweight titles, says he's more than willing to step up to the 140-pound division to challenge his Golden Boy Promotions stablemate (Khan). “In regards to me fighting Amir Khan, I’ve never backed down from a challenge," Guerrero told RingTV.com. "It was Khan that called my name out when he said he would rather fight me then Zab Judah because he said Judah is a runner and I come to fight. "I told my manager, 'Lets make the fight with Khan. I’m ready to go and that fight would be great for the fans.'” Guerrero's manager, Bob Santos, loves the idea. “A fight with Khan would be tremendous for boxing," he said. "I feel I have a tremendous talent in Robert Guerrero and we’re ready to fight whoever, whenever, however. We’re ready to prove to the fans that we belong in Top 10 pound-for-pound rankings by fighting the best.” |
