Roman Gonzalez reportedly will defend his jr. flyweight title against Omar Saldao on 7/9.

Unbeaten Roman Gonzalez will make the second defense of his WBA junior flyweight title July 9 in Mexico against Omar Salado, according to boxingscene.com. The venue has not been determined.

Gonzalez (28-0, 23 knockouts) won the interim version of the title with a second-round KO of Francisco Rosas in October, then successfully defended the belt in March with a unanimous decisionover Manuel Vargas.

He previously held the WBA strawweight belt from 2008 to 2010, a span in which he won four title bouts.

The 31-year-old Salado (22-3-2, 13 KOs) has lost three of his last six fights. This will be his third try at a world title.
