Gonzalez to defend against Salado

Roman Gonzalez reportedly will defend his jr. flyweight title against Omar Saldao on 7/9. Unbeaten Roman Gonzalez will make the second defense of his WBA junior flyweight title July 9 in Mexico against Omar Salado, according to boxingscene.com. The venue has not been determined. Gonzalez (28-0, 23 knockouts) won the interim version of the title with a second-round KO of Francisco Rosas in October, then successfully defended the belt in March with a unanimous decisionover Manuel Vargas. He previously held the WBA strawweight belt from 2008 to 2010, a span in which he won four title bouts. The 31-year-old Salado (22-3-2, 13 KOs) has lost three of his last six fights.
