Perez-Terry slated for Oct. 28
Eloy Perez takes on Ira Terry on Oct. 28
Unbeaten junior lightweight contender Eloy Perez will defend his NABO belt against Ira Terry at Sherwood Hall in Salinas, Calif., on Oct. 28 on TeleFutura, according to a release.
The 24-year-old (22-0-2, 6 KOs) is coming off an impressive second-round knockout of Daniel Jimenez (20-4-1, 12 KOs) , who had won three straight bouts coming into their TeleFutura-televised clash on Sept. 2.
Promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, Perez also has a victory over southpaw lightweight Dannie Williams (19-1, 15 KOs), a winner of seven consecutive bouts, five of them by knockout, since falling to Perez in September of 2009.
Perez had been considered to face Adrien Broner in(21-0, 17 KOs) in a clash of unbeatens for the WBO belt next month before the deal fell through, according to Perez's manager, Kathy Garcia.
The 22-year-old Broner was the mandatory challenger to 28-year-old Ricky Burns (39-2, 9 KOs) of Scotland, who was to make his third defense in Broner's home town of Cincinnati's U.S. Bank Arena before moving up to the lightweight division because he could no longer make weight.
The 24-year-old Terry (24-6, 14 KOs) is trying to end a four-bout losing streak.
