Froch says no to Cleverly fight?

Carl Froch has snubbed an offer to face Nathan Cleverly, according to Cleverly's promoter.

Carl Froch has snubbed an offer to face WBO light heavyweight titleholder Nathan Cleverly in an all-British clash later this year, preferring instead to continue at super middleweight.

Frank Warren, who manages and promotes unbeaten Welsh star Cleverly, confirmed in his Sun newspaper column that an approach to Froch, the former two-time WBC super middleweight titleholder, was made last week.

Somewhat surprisingly, though, (given his hopes of facing IBF holder Lucian Bute seem to be fading and he has yet to hear back from long-time Danish rival Mikkel Kessler regards a possible second meeting) Froch, soundly beaten on points by THE RING 168-pound champion Andre Ward in the Super Six final last month, has resisted the temptation of a lucrative payday against Cleverly.

That fight would be a guaranteed sell-out in the UK but, according to Warren, Nottingham man Froch (28-2, 20 knockouts) said no because he still believes he has unfinished business among the super middleweight elite.
