Adamek-Toney on Sept. 8?

Main Events President Kathy Duva confirmed an earlier report by BoxingScene.com that former light heavyweight and cruiserweight titleholder Tomasz Adamek has a targeted a Sept. 8 return to the ring at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., against three-division titlewinner James Toney.

"That's being discussed, but it's not finalized," said Duva. "It's nowhere near being finalized."

A 35-year-old native of Zywiec, Poland, who lives in Kearny, N.J., Adamek (46-2, 28 knockouts) would be returning to the site of his last victory, a unanimous decision over heavyweight contender Eddie Chambers on June 16.

Adamek will be after his third straight victory, having last suffered defeat by 10th-round stoppage against Vitali Klitschko in September of last year.

A winner of belts at the middleweight, super middleweight and cruiserweight divisions, Toney, who turns 44 in August, is coming off a fifth-round knockout of Bobby Gunn in April that helped him to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to cruiserweight Denis Lebedev in November.

Adamek-Toney would be televised in the afternoon in America, which is "prime time in Poland at night," said Duva. "So it's going to take place on pay per view in Poland."

"It's not going to be broadcast here at this point, but maybe it will be. The main event should be starting here somewhere around 5 or 6 p.m. our time. I have to work that out with the Polish stations."
