Golden Boy's big spring

Richard Schaefer said the Alexander-Brook fight looks like it is bound for Atlantic City, maybe under Peterson-Matthysse.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is working on a big spring beyond the 154-pound clash between WBA titleholder Austin Trout and WBC counterpart Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on April 20 and the May 4 showdown between WBC welterweight beltholder Floyd Mayweather and Robert Guerrero.

Schaefer said the match up between Alvarez and Trout is being targeted for the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on Showtime.

"Both fighters [Alvarez and Trout] have agreed to take the fight, and Canelo said that's what he wants, and we have secured the Alamodome," said Schaefer.

"Now we're just working on the deal for the Alamodome. I'm going to have a meeting on Monday morning, and, hopefully, we'll get everything ironed out."

Schaefer informed RingTV.com on last week that he was considering a junior welterweight match between IBF beltholder  Lamont Peterson and THE RING's No. 1-rated 140-pounder Lucas Matthysse for May 18 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

On the Peterson-Matthysse undercard, current IBF welterweight titleholder Devon Alexander would make a defense against Englishman Kell Brook. Schaefer stated in a recent e-mail to RingTV.com that it "Looks like" Alexander-Brook  is set for Atlantic City.

Schaefer needs to find a new date, however, for the match up between rising two-divison titlewinner Abner Mares  and WBC featherweight titleholder Daniel Ponce de Leon, which was displaced by Alvarez-Trout.

Mares-Ponce de Leon was to be complimented by a fight featuring welterweights Marcos Maidana and Josesito Lopez.

"We'll be working on that. I'm so, so, so busy right now working all of these dates and fights and everything. I'm working on the Mayweather fight, I'm working on the Canelo fight, I'm working on the Mares fight, and I'm working on Lopez-Maidana fight," said Schaefer.

"I'm working on the Peterson-Matthysse fight. I'm working on all of these fights. As soon as I have something to announce it. But I really don't have anything to announce right now. I'm working on all of these days and fights, and when I have something to announce, I will announce it."
