“I don’t think that he’s done at all,” trainer Tony Morgan said of the future of his former fighter Andre Berto, who was knocked out by Jesus Soto Karass on Saturday. “Sometimes, a fighter has to ask himself is it the man in your corner or the man in the mirror?”
Manny Pacquiao and Brandon Rios will embark on a seven-city, international press tour in advance of their November fight in Macau.
Trainer Virgil Hunter on Andre Berto: “When he came out with the shoulder roll and things like that against Guerrero, I had never seen him do it. So I just stressed to him that it was important to him to have his own identity.”
Andre Berto says that in his upcoming fight with Jesus Soto Karass he wants to be “that complete fighter…the really sharp Andre Berto that can put together that speed and that power and be effective defensively.”
Andre Berto was treated for injuries and released from Loma Linda University Medical Center following Saturday night’s loss to Robert Guerrero, and is resting with family at his home in Winter Haven, Fla.
Andre Berto’s potent mix of speed and power led to 27 consecutive victories before his slugfest loss to Victor Ortiz. He’s confident that he’ll win their rematch on Feb. 11 because he’s trained to add finesse to his raw athleticism.
