Representatives for IBF junior welterweight titleholder Lamont Peterson have submitted his medical records to the IBF in dispute of the fighter's positive drug test for synthetic testosterone, which cancelled his rematch with Amir Khan.
Lamont Peterson has been stripped of the WBA 140-pound title he won from Amir Khan as a result of his failed pre-fight drug test, according to Golden Boy Promotions' Richard Schaefer. The vacant belt will be on the line when Khan challenges WBC titleholder Danny Garcia on July 14.
Lamont Peterson has admitted to taking a banned substance but claims it was for medical reasons and had nothing to do with the outcome of his first fight against Amir Khan, which he won last December.
Washington, D.C., Boxing and Wrestling Commssion Chairman Scottie Irving addressed the issues surrounding Saturday night's Lamont Peterson-Amir Khan fight.
